baby noah

brought over from my personal blog: a baby announcement for one of my faves ..

these were the birth announcements i made for one of my best friends and her new little one, noah. kari wasn't too specific about what she wanted, she just knew she wanted it to say somewhere "the best things come in small packages". so with the help of my friends at paper source, i used the square petal envelopes in bluebell, mounted his darling little serious face on white cardstock, and used a white sticker with the quote to seal it all together. hand-addressed and stamped them - signed, sealed, delivered! bear with me on the amateur photos, i'm still learning... : )

illustrated save-the-date

i'm all about simple design. and original ways of sharing the news of your upcoming big day... i'm over the refrigerator magnet.   not to say that's not a great idea, but let's move on... i was perusing etsy, and found these illustrations.. cute, simple, and quirky.  definitely original - make this into a postcard, print your info on the back, and voila! a new twist on an old thing.

my loves

i thought it would be fitting to start my paperlily blog with one of the most important pieces i've ever designed : my babies' birth announcement.  because they are 14 months old, the announcement itself is not exactly in prime condition to be photographed.  and i'm still an amateur photographer.  so i mocked up an example of what it looked like.  i'm pretty non-traditional when it comes to blue = boys and pink = girls, but i still wanted it to seem like it was obviously a boys' announcement.  with paper source products, i used a moss gate-fold invite, backed the picture with their midnight blue, printed a quote/their birth info on the sides, and sealed it with a curry round sticker stamped with an owl.  i loved then how they turned out, and love even more that i still think it's pretty sweet.
